Pure Fiji Body Lotion 300ml

Coconut milk and nut oils do the work here. It is a hydrating, spa-inspired lotion, light enough for daily use rather than a heavy balm you only reach for now and then. Made in Fiji.

How to actually use it

Apply to skin that is still slightly damp, straight out of the shower. It spreads further on damp skin, so you use less and skin feels less tight afterwards. A 20 cent coin sized amount per lower leg is a sensible starting point, a bit more across the back and shoulders. Work it in until it disappears instead of leaving a film. Once a day is enough for most people. Twice a day through winter if your shins and forearms feel tight by evening.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits all skin types, and the light texture is practical for an Auckland summer, when anything thick and rich feels sticky in the humidity. If you want something you will actually reapply every day, texture matters more than richness.

It is not a heavy balm, so for rough patches like heels and elbows you may want something richer as well. It contains nut oils. If you have a nut allergy, read the full ingredient list on the bottle first, or ask us to go through the pack with you in store.

A few New Zealand specifics

• Hard water. Water is harder in some parts of the country than others, and a long hot shower can leave skin feeling tight. Moisturising while your skin is still damp helps more than adding a second layer an hour later.
• Winter heating. Heat pumps and log burners dry the indoor air out, and skin can feel tighter by evening. A daily lotion earns its place from about May onwards.
• Sun. This is a body lotion, not sun protection. It goes on alongside sunscreen, never instead of it.
• Bottle size. 300ml sounds generous. Used head to toe every day, it goes faster than most people plan for.
